ONE RIDE 150
This July 1st, Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday!
To honour our country’s milestone anniversary, The Ride is laying down a single goal for each Rider: Raise $150 by Canada Day. By coming together as one Ride and committing to fundraising $150 by Saturday, July 1st, we can show the epic power of our community.
So whether you’re getting your first, fifth or final donation, join us this month and raise $150 for Canada’s 150th!

Beginning Monday, April 24, we will show the power of our Ride community in celebration of Epic Impact Day on Friday, April 28!
In a single week, we’re asking every Rider to make an impact by getting one donation—or more!—by April 28. Whether it’s your first or final donation as you ride towards your fundraising goal, join our entire Ridership as we unite to show our Epic Impact!
Make your Family Day an EPIC one!
Test your sled-driving skills, perfect that toe loop or carve some fresh powder at Winsport this February 20—and all winter long!—through The Ride’s WinSport Family Day Challenge!
Any new or inactive Rider who registers for The 2017 Ride between February 6 and February 16 will automatically be entered to win a WinSport Family Season Pass* for the 2017/18 winter season—just in time for Family Day!
With a total value of $1249.99, this pass allows the winning Rider and their family to enjoy access to skiing, snowboarding, tubing, skating, luging and bobsledding throughout the winter season.

Epic Ride, Epic Match!
Epic Ride, Epic Match! is a generous matching initiative sponsored by Wayne Foo, a passionate fundraiser and enthusiastic Rider in the Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Wayne’s passion and commitment is paying it forward to both registered and new Riders through his generous matching gift during the month of January.
Riders, now is the time to recruit those family members, friends and neighbours who have been watching you from the sidelines. Because when you refer a new or inactive* Rider, you’ll receive an epic referral credit of $250 towards your fundraising goal!
And if you’re among those who have been thinking about joining our Ride community, today is the day to sign up! When you register and make a self-donation of any dollar amount between $100 and $500, you’ll receive an epic matching credit towards your fundraising goal!
The Ride is honoured to have Wayne Foo’s continued support in creating a cancer-free future. His impact is already seen through the Lynne Marshall and Wayne Foo Cancer Research Clinical Fellowship at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and through his many years as a Rider.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Teams are one of the true pillars of The Ride, and because of that we want to both CHALLENGE you and REWARD you! Join the Community Team Challenge! We are challenging you to make the biggest impact possible through fundraising. Teams drive critically important funds to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, supporting its vision of Personalized Cancer Medicine: finding the right treatment for the right patient, at the right time.
You will engage in a friendly competition against other teams within your community, with top teams winning ultimate recognition, including a trophy and year-long bragging rights! All teams with 5 or more Riders have a chance to win!
Community Teams will be ranked by average fundraising dollars per participant and overall team fundraising. It doesn’t matter if you have 5 or 500 team members, all that matters is that each team member is contributing to increasing fundraising dollars.
Challenge friends and family to join your team or start their own, and join us on this epic journey! We’re here to support your team and provide you with the tools and resources to be successful for The Ride!
The top teams in each community team category will receive:
- On event recognition
- Special invitation to the post-event recognition night

"I am proud to be the captain of Team Linnea’s Legion, an eclectic group of cyclist warriors all training hard and raising funds in the name of my beautiful wife, Linnea."
In 2014, Linnea was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. A few months after a successful round of treatment, we were devastated to learn that the cancer had come back. By January of 2016, it reached her lungs and has since spread throughout her body. In a few shattering weeks, I became the caregiver of my 32-year-old wife living with a terminal disease, constantly struggling to fend off the despair and sense of hopelessness that seemed to engulf me.
I never could have imagined how much learning about The Ride would change my life. After coming across a brochure, I signed up, bought a new bike, set up my Personal Page and began training. I met my $2,500 fundraising minimum in less than 24 hours. Now I am so humbled and delighted to have reached my fundraising goal of $15,000, an achievement that I will proudly share by wearing the Polka Dot Jersey at The Ride in honour of Linnea.
Knowing that the funds raised stay in Alberta means the world to me. During Linnea’s diagnosis and treatment, I felt such desperation to do something—anything—to help my wife. Every dollar of the $15,000 I’ve raised is made immediately available to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, enabling them to support breakthrough cancer research, clinical trials, enhanced care and the discovery of new cancer therapies at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Cross Cancer Institute and 15 other centres across Alberta. That thought keeps me moving forward every day.
